Dalian to Start Construction on Northeast China’s Longest Sea-Crossing Bridge This Year

This year, Dalian will accelerate the construction of the Northeast Asia International Shipping Center and Logistics Center, and enhance its modern sea-land-air integrated transportation system: starting construction of the Changhai Bridge, the longest sea-crossing bridge in Northeast China, to achieve early access between the land and islands; opening two new container shipping routes to achieve a container throughput of 5 million TEUs; planning to implement 46 transportation construction projects throughout the year and striving to complete a fixed asset investment of 13.6 billion yuan in transportation, a year-on-year growth of 30%.

This year, Dalian will roll out the first Domestic Logistics Center Construction Promotion Regulations, issue the Implementation Plan for the Construction of the Northeast Sea-Land Passage in Dalian, and promote the approval of the Dalian Port Master Plan by the joint approval of Ministry of Transport and Liaoning Province. The sea transportation route network will be optimized, two new container shipping routes will be opened, and the container throughput will reach 5 million TEUs, to consolidate and improve the status of the container and bulk cargo regional hub. Besides, three new ships for chemical and cargo transportation will be added to guide water transportation companies to expand new businesses in Dalian, filling the gap in international LPG energy transportation in the city. In addition, the construction of the coastal assembly center and the international transit and consolidation center for China-Europe Freight Trains, and the commodity vehicle hub will be promoted, to create a bulk cargo base for oil, ore, grain, timber, and other commodities.
Adhering to the principle of “projects first,” Dalian taps its potential by planning 209 construction projects with a total investment of 316.7 billion yuan. The city plans to implement 46 transportation construction projects throughout the year, and strives to complete a fixed asset investment of 13.6 billion yuan in transportation, a year-on-year increase of 30%, to maintain a high growth rate.
The major projects of “sea, land, air, and rail” will advance simultaneously. The central section of the Dalian to Lushun Channel will achieve full-line opening on July 1st; the construction of the new airport will accelerate; the construction of the Changhai Bridge, the longest sea-crossing bridge in Northeast China, will commence. The transformation of the existing railway from Dalian to Lushun will be initiated; the construction of projects such as Taiping Bay public waterway, Baiyinshan tunnel reconstruction, Mada line upgrade from a level-crossing to an overpass-style, and Zhuanghe Tianbu line will be accelerated; the Hekou public transportation hub will be put into use. Additionally, 40 kilometers of national and provincial trunk roads will be transformed, along with 200 kilometers of major repairs to rural roads as a key livelihood project.
This year, Dalian will also coordinate the integration of subway and bus networks. It will open and adjust six bus routes, and ensure the smooth opening of Subway Line 5, fully ushering in the “network era” of Dalian’s subway and making travel more convenient for the public. Before July 1st, the Dalian North Station Integrated Transportation Hub will be put into operation as the largest and fully functional transportation hub in Northeast China with convenient transfer options.
