Recently, the “World Wildlife Day” campaign in Liaoning has been held in Panjin City. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Mobilizing the Public to Promote Species Conservation Together.”
The special geographical location and superior natural conditions of Liaoning provide abundant wildlife resources, which are of great significance both in China and internationally. It is the southernmost breeding area for red-crowned cranes, a globally endangered bird species, the largest migratory stopover for white cranes, the only breeding site for black-faced spoonbills in China, the largest breeding area for Chinese black-headed gulls, and an important wintering ground for white-tailed eagles and relict gulls.

Over the years, Liaoning has made significant achievements in wildlife conservation. By implementing conservation projects for rare and endangered wild animals such as red-crowned cranes, black-faced spoonbills, Chinese merganser, great bustards, black storks, Chinese black-headed gulls, etc., their habitat areas have expanded and optimized, and their populations have continued to increase. By conserving wild plants with extremely small populations such as Taxus cuspidata, effective promotion of biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of natural resources in the province have been achieved. Besides, a provincial joint meeting system has been established to combat illegal wildlife trade, the bad habits of eating wild animals have been resolutely eliminated, and the most stringent control measures on wildlife trade have been carried out, thus achieving a cross-department, cross-industry and multi-link crackdown on illegal wildlife trade.
In addition, Liaoning has also launched a series of joint law enforcement actions such as “Clean Wind”, “Net Shield”, and “Autumn Migratory Bird Special Action”. These actions have effectively deterred and curbed illegal hunting and illegal trade of wildlife and their products, thereby ensuring the effective conservation and sustainable development of wildlife resources in Liaoning.
