The award ceremony of the 2025 China Tourism Commodities Competition was recently held at the Yiwu International Expo Center in Zhejiang Province, which was hosted by the China Tourism Association and organized by the China Tourist Commodities And Equipments Association. The competition received a total of 3,215 entries from all over China. Among them, 12 works from the Liaoning Provincial Museum stood out, winning one silver, one bronze and ten finalist awards.

With “light tourism equipment, and cultural and creative gifts for cities” as its creative theme, the competition specially invited senior experts in the industry to form a jury to appraise the entries from the dimensions of product design aesthetics and practical value. The final results were released after three rounds of selection and review. It was the first time that the Liaoning Provincial Museum had participated in the competition. With its profound cultural deposits and innovative design concepts, the museum’s cultural and creative products won unanimous recognition and high praise from both the jury and the audience.

The museum’s “Four Bottles Standing Firm” ornament series of works, featuring the intangible cultural heritage paper pleating, won the silver award. This series of works was based on the museum’s classic collection of Gourd-Shaped Vase, Yuhuchun (Jade Pot Spring) Vase, Full Moon-Shaped Vase, and Plum Blossom-Patterned Vase. The delicate and three-dimensional outlines of the works were pinched and spliced purely by hand through deeply exploring the essence of the intangible cultural heritage paper-pleating art. Meanwhile, 3D printing technology has been utilized to reproduce the relief patterns of the museum’s collection of cultural relics, perfectly fusing traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, and giving new vitality to the ancient craftsmanship.

The Flying Fish-Shaped Incense Burner, inspired by the “Yaozhou Kiln Celadon Flying Fish-Shaped Water Jar”, won the bronze award. This work not only well restored the original shape of the cultural relic, but also improved the water inlet of the water jar into a hole. The new design imparted to the work a new function that meets the needs of contemporary life, vividly embodying the Chinese philosophy of “a vessel carries the Dao (Way of Nature)”.

The awards won by the Liaoning Provincial Museum fully demonstrate its profound cultural deposits and innovation ability in the field of cultural and creative products. In the future, the museum will continue to cultivate its collection resources, and apply modern design concepts and techniques to launch more cultural and creative products with cultural value, practical functions and market competitiveness, aiming to “enliven” cultural relics, and “popularize” cultural and creative products.
