On February 12, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held the fifth press conference of the series on the economic performance of Liaoning in 2024 and the key arrangements for 2025, presenting the overall situation, major achievements, highlights, and features of the province’s cultural and tourism industry and outlining its primary plans for 2025.

In 2024, Liaoning hosted 652.197 million tourist visits in total, an increase of 28.1% year-on-year, and saw tourism revenue of 632.52 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 25.9%. The integrated development of culture, sports and tourism in Liaoning is taking a fresh look.

Liaoning has added over 20 national-level tourism brands, including the Changshan Archipelago in Dalian as a national-level tourist resort and the Wunyushan Scenic Spot in Benxi as a national-level 5A tourist site. A series of cultural and tourism consumption promotion activities were launched, including the “Fancy Winter Travel in Liaoning” campaign, which attracted 14,000 businesses and generated a total consumption of 1.2 billion yuan. Throughout the year, more than 8,300 cultural events, such as art performances, intangible cultural heritage shows, and cultural heritage exhibitions, were held, with 15 villages selected as national-level demonstration sites for the “Four Seasons Village Gala” program. The “museum boom” became a new namecard of Liaoning’s cultural and tourism industry, with the province’s museums and memorial halls receiving 39.856 million visitors. Cultural and creative product revenue reached 147 million yuan. Moreover, inbound tourists in 2024 grew by 49.55% year-on-year, surpassing the level in 2019.

In 2025, the province expects an 8% increase in visitor numbers and a 10% rise in tourism revenue. Over 500 cultural, sports, and tourism projects are planned, with an estimated investment of approximately 30 billion yuan.
