On October 16, the 4th Annual Conference on Intangible Cultural Heritage Safeguarding in China officially opened in Chaoyang, Liaoning Province. Themed “Ancient Charm of Chaoyang · ICH Renewal — Let ICH Illuminate a Better Life”, the conference has been selected as one of UNESCO’s key global events for the International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, showcasing the charm of traditional Chinese culture to the world.
As the highlight of the conference, the “Five-Good” ICH fair opened to great excitement. Held at venues such as Murong Street and the North and South Pagoda Squares, the fair brings together ICH projects from across China under five sections: Good to Look At, Good to Listen To, Good to Eat, Good to Play With, and Good to Use. On site, visitors can watch inheritors give live demonstrations of their skills, browse and buy specialty foods, join hands-on DIY activities, collect stamps as they tour, and visit the Youth ICH Craftsmanship Exhibition, taking ICH out of exhibition halls and into the everyday lives of ordinary people.
